Planning your holiday in the Calgary area:

  • Many of our guests make Bonaventure B&B their headquarters as they take day trips to see the best of southern Alberta. The most common day trips out of the city include drives to Lake Louise, Moraine Lake (pictured with your hosts above) Banff, Canmore, Kananaskis country, Drumheller, Longview, and Elbow Falls. Each of these is a maximum of 2 hours drive from our Calgary B & B home.

  • Calgary is a city of 1.3 million people so there is plenty to see and do in the city as well. In early July, the Calgary Stampede is the highlight, bringing in visitors from around the world. Guests can either drive to the Stampede or ride the C-Train (light rail transit) with two stations within walking distance of our B & B.

  • Heritage Park, a recreated town from the early 1900's, is another Calgary must see. Open from May until mid-October, this 127 acre park includes a ride on a steam train, a paddlewheel boat on Glenmore dam, horse drawn vehicles, a working farm, an early oil drilling rig,  wooden midway rides, cars and trucks from the era and workers dressed in costumes from the period.  The C-Train from our south Calgary B & B will bring you close to Heritage Park.

  • Today there remain many venues and reminders of the 1988 Winter Olympics. Canada Olympic Park is one of the big draws as tourists can ride the luge, check out the 90m. ski jump, possibly catch a practice run on the bobsleigh track or visit the Olympic Sports Hall of Fame. Not far from C.O.P. is the Olympic Speed Skating oval located at the University of Calgary.

  • Calgary also boasts an excellent zoo. In the spring of 2018, four giant pandas will be joining the Calgary Zoo. They are sure to be a "must see" attraction. Animals from around the world are featured but for those who may have missed seeing bears, moose, wolves, elk, beavers or other wildlife in the Banff area, this is your chance to see Canada's iconic creatures up close.

  • In downtown Calgary, you may wish to ride up the Calgary Tower and if brave enough, stand on the glass floor as you look down 191 meters or 627 feet to the street below. . Nearby, is the Glenbow Museum with extensive history of Southern Alberta including First Nations historical displays and an impressive art collection. Exhibitions change frequently and rate with the finest in North America.

  • Are you an equestrian enthusiast? Spruce Meadows is reputed to be North America's premiere horse jumping facility. It is approximately an 8 minute drive from our south Calgary B & B.

  • Our bed and breakfast is also located less than a kilometre from Canada's largest urban park, Fish Creek Park. This 19 km long park has been kept in it's natural state with prairie trees, grasses, streams, native animals and birds throughout.

  • Bonaventure B & B is also very well located for shopping and restaurants. Southcenter Mall, with over 180 stores is walking distance from our home. Two other smaller malls, Avenieda Mall and Bonavista Promenade are even closer to us. Every kind of dining experience from high end lakeside dining to delicious fast food kiosks can be easily accessed from the B&B. There is also a Safeway grocery store located very close by.
